Ralph you fucking liar!

Of course I'm not talking about Ralph Klein, although I'm sure he's lied during his time as a politician. I'm talking about our federal finance minster Ralph Goodale, he's a fucking liar. He says that the federal government can't reduce it's tax on gasoline because it won't make a difference at the pumps. He obviously thinks Canadians are stupid or can't do simple math. Then again he could be right about people from Toronto, but that's for another post at another time.
The feds take 10 cents from every litre sold in Canada, plus GST. It's the tax the tax scheme, been happening in Canada for years. I think it's about time it's stopped. Which might mean a change of government. But as we've seen in the past that probably won't happen. Here's a good article from Licia Corbella about these shenanigans! Check it out.

There you go, using "Licia Corbella" and "good article" in the same sentence again.
By all means also check out her column called "Key point missed in Schiavo case,"
http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/Columnists/Calgary/Licia_Corbella/2005/03/23/969465.html
. My favourite part is definitely as follows:

Michael Schiavo conveniently calls his common-law wife his "girlfriend," but by law, she is his wife. That means he has two wives — both of whom are recognized by law in the U.S. — and that means he should either be charged with bigamy… or he should be forced to divorce Terri.

[In addition to being very nutty, it appears that this is also flat-out wrong: Florida doesn't recognize common-law marriages. No response from Corbella as yet...]

But it's also fun how she accepts the dubious/delusional accounts of Terri's family as iron-clad truth, which results in the following howlers:

"Her brain may not function the same or as well as the rest of us, but it doesn't mean that her life is of less value than the rest of us. Otherwise, what's next? Do we start killing off people with low IQs?

Terri... is very much alive."

The Sun's op/ed pages are the preferred habitat of semi-literate Angry Albertan drivel. I don't care if it aims low — it's ridiculous, and it ought to get better. Hopefully market forces will force it to: with just a 37 percent share, the Sun is getting slaughtered by the Herald. Averaged out daily, just 7.2 percent of Calgarians read it. In fact, the only English-language Canadian metropolitan newspapers read by a lower percentage of their cities' inhabitants are the Montreal Gazette, the Halifax Daily News, and, ahem, the Winnipeg Sun, Ottawa Sun and Toronto Sun. This is somewhat heartening: stupid still sells, no doubt, but perhaps not as well as, you know, not quite as stupid.

Yes I know Licia has some good articles which I don't agree with. on this other topic which you wish to talk about. Didn't an autopsy of Terri Schiavo prove that her brain was only 10% of the size of a normal brain. Plus she was deaf. Hence she was brain damaged and couldn't understand a thing or recognize anyone. So they were keeping her alive only because the family couldn't or didn't want to wake up to reality. the fact that Terri is dead. So are you pro life or pro choice?
So what if the sun has a lower share than the herald. Does that make their news wrong? I sure CBC doesn't have the top ratings. but you would have me believe there news is gospel. Also I believe you numbers are wrong. Only 7% readership, If that was the case they would have gone under a while ago. Is this the maritimer attitude nowadays. When someone disagrees with you, you make fun of them. Sounds a lot like semi-literate Angry Albertan drivel. But i guess that would be Angry Nova Scotian drivel. I must of made a pont because you changed the subject pretty quick.

Back to the topic at hand Sabutai. yes a $0.30 increase is only 2 cents when GST is added. But where in Canada is gas only $.30. No where. Currently it's at $1.019 in Calgary. Minus the GST it would be at $0.95. Minus the federal deficit tax of $0.015. Puts it at $0.935. Plus when you subtract the provincial and federal flat taxes. It's around $0.735. give or take I'm not sure exactly what the flat taxes are. That equals, roughly, 28.5 cents per litre in tax alone. Alberta is one of the lowest taxes provinces.
So not including GST; if gasoline was reduced 2 cents to $0.93. with the GST it comes out to $0.9976. WOW, actually less than 2 cents off. What a concept.
As for you CCPA I'm sure they have facts and graphs showing it's all government and oil companies. I've even seen sites which have had facts and graphs showing it's all the government. At least one thing is for sure, government is racking in the money. So don't you think some tax reduction is in need? Oh, right I forgot you guys like taxes out East. So I've got a proposal for you. Send me $5 a month, we'll call it an Alberta blogger tax. You don't mind paying taxes. So this should be no problem. Think of it as going towards a United Canada for Taxation, tax.
I'll be waiting..... lol

Interesting fact: Canadians are second on the list of highest taxation. Number 1: China. So maybe we should become a communist state. Then at least I can't complain. Because hey -- we're commies!

Sabutai hitcha on the head with the tax fax, Now I'll deal with your media issues. You ask if the sun is ranked lower does this mean their new is false? Their news isn't false, it's spun, and then dumbed down to a level that a grade school kid can understand. The Herald is as right wing as the Sun, It's run by Canwest, same as Global, and the National Post. However It aims a little higher than the Sun. Licia Coulter...er Corbella, Is, like Ralph Goodale, a big fat fucking liar. In her Schaivo Article she spews off fact that are simply untrue,( re. Florida's Marrige Laws) but she knows that the Sun readers probably arn't going to check on her anyway since their base agrees with the gist of what she's saying. Corbella writes her opinion, and if the facts don't agree with her, she'll ignore them. In the world of journalism, lying is not illegeal, but it is unethical, and unprofessional, and that is what the sun reflects. My point is stupid sells ..but not as well as not quite so stupid, the Fact that the Herald out sells the Sun is because their journalism standards are MUCH higher, so if you make and argument off of their editorials I'll wager that it's going to be harder to refute. So in fact the Suns ratings don't make their news untrue...the fact that they play loose with the facts makes their ratings low.

Here's the latest Numbers I could find on circulation;(circa 2003)

I like the facts guys, looks good. I think our income tax and property tax is way too high. I guess saying we pay too much tax depends on how much tax is acceptible. Ranking 4th in the world I think is way too high. Now I wouldn't have much of a problem with most of it. Except a lot is wasted which could be used for a better cause. Now I understand waste is inevitable, but as Canadians I believe we should be the best. Eliminate as much waste as possible. With liberla Minister Volpe who had a pizza dinner date for 2, price $138 ,roughly. Why does that have to come out of our pocket? Aren't the MP's already nicely paid fo there positon. It make me shake my head.

OK , so were not second highest. We're fourth on some things. close enough. TOO HIGH!

Media, of course they put a spin on everything. Every Canadian media outlet does. At first I didn't think you numbers were correct. But they look right. I'm not taking into account the large portion who don't read or buy a newspaper. Some only watch the tube for their news, where others don't watch the news at all. pLus our large percent of immigrants don't give a shit about Canadian media. They're more than happy to just be in our country.
Also take into consideration some of my facts are gathered from unreliable sources. And when I spew them onto this blog I'm usually under the influence of some type of herbal remedy.
